This is the time of the year when it's more common to complain about the state of your health than the weather. I'm not the only Bitchbuzz writer who's been confined to the couch with the flu, but I hope this experience has at least made me stronger. And better versed in how to waste time online.
I hate having a cold. There's nothing worse than spending day after day being unable to think full sentences and slowly forgetting what the outside world looks like. Distractions are vital for survival and here are a few.
1. Urban legends on Wikipedia and Urban legends about drugs. This will keep you occupied for a few hours. Now you have your chance to read up on the Bermuda Triangle or find out if PCP really does turn you into a cannibal. Awesome!
2. Too tired to actually look up funny videos on Youtube? If you live in the UK you can watch Channel 4's Rude Tube, a compilation of famous clips and there's 97 minutes of it.
3. Online games. This is the time to play them. I recommend Bejeweled and that bubble game. You can probably get them on your phone as well if you're smart enough. I might now have take a break from writing and work on my high score.
4. Personality tests. A great resource for these is Ok cupid. Don't let the fact that it's a dating site scare you away. Find out what kind of dating persona you have, or which Buffy character you resemble or what kind of goddess stereotype you would be. Don't be shy, we've all done these tests in the past. Just embrace the vapid power of internet psychology.
Feeling any better? Didn't think so. Take a couple of painkillers and check out the Globe Genie. And when all else fails and even funny Youtube clips seem boring, you know you're on your way to recovery.
