As I go through moments of wondering if I am experiencing madness (thankfully I'm not, it's just motherhood), I've realised a few things about being a parent to a toddler that I wouldn't have minded being clued in on before.
You will feel overwhelming love and the urge to wail or cry in equal measure
Yesterday, as the bambino threw our lovely Panasonic house phone into a bucket of water I was using to clean the floor, along with her grandmothers ...

Dear Ask A Bitch,
I’m a 23 year-old woman who’s in love with a great guy. He’s 26 and plays guitar in an indie band, which is hot. We’ve been hanging out for six months and have an amazing connection. We share our music and writing with each other. We’re not officially together, because he said the timing’s off and he’s not ready. But he says he’s in love with me.

This week I’d hoped to write a “Life” post that was light and fun, something with a poppy headline that would make you BitchBuzzer’s smile. This was my intention, and then life pulled a fast one on me. So now I tackle the question of how us modern ladies cope with crisis – and still manage to laugh, knit, geek out, girl out, love and dream.

It all started when I stopped waiting tables where I was on my feet all day and night and started working a 9 to 5 lifestyle in an office where I was always sitting. There are some days I don’t even take a lunch because I’m either too lazy or swamped with work to leave my desk. My only exercise is the short walk from my house to the subway and from the subway to my work and vice versa.

The Great Spirit of American marketing has reached new states of consciousness. Recently on Lime.com, I noticed a banner ad for the Enlightenment Card , which shows a VISA card bearing the infinity symbol alongside an apparently blissful woman. It declared “Finally, a credit card for people like us.” I was a bit confused. Consumer debt. Materialism. Enlightened?

This one goes out to all of you procrastinators. Not the respectable citizen who pays her bills on time and has yet to endure the hellfire of late payment notices. And certainly not the perpetual go-getter who brings to fruition a legion of projects with definable beginnings, middles and ends. No, this goes out to the lazy people, the indecisive people, the down-to-the-wire people – my people.

A break-up is one of the hardest things we as humans have to go through. It’s never easy, and it always takes longer to get over our ex than we had ever thought. The end of a relationship is difficult, and sometimes we feel better when we know other people have shared the same experience: this is the reason why listening to “break-up” songs is one of the best ways to bandage a wounded heart.

It's a situation that many politically savvy girls find themselves in:
Sarah Palin is their new lord and savior while their mother wears a Mama for Obama shirt to the grocery store. And to bed. And to work...
They've purchased a hybrid car - while their Dad drives around in the biggest Ford 350 they've ever seen in their life.

I have a friend with a problem. She has been with her boyfriend for over a year now. Things were good in the beginning, but lately, she’s just not happy. She’s 30 years old, and he’s 47. She says that his age is becoming more of an issue for her, each day that passes. She’s no longer physically attracted to him. They don’t share the same interests. It’s as if suddenly, his age is all she can see. She cares about him, but she’s not in love with him anymore. So the question is: Does age matter ...

Is anyone else out there annoyed by this? To someone who values good aesthetics, crap design is utterly irritating – and New Agers seem to be among the worse offenders. I really do want to hear all about their interesting ideas; however, the average consumer must resist the impulse to gouge out her eyes when pummeled with flashy animated GIFs and gaudy cosmic collages. (Like my headshot up there? Like that?)
