Fancy Dress Any Time, Any Place

So you don’t dress up for Halloween or birthdays or any other occasion at the drop of a hat - why the hell not? Do you not like to have fun or are you just a bit boring?  If you’re a librarian or a maths teacher or a member of the grey army I’d understand, but if you’re reading this you’re probably not any of those. One day we’ll all get old and dressing up in fancy dress would render you senile and get you put on the fast track to an old peoples home so you might as well make the most of it ...

Does Being "Grown Up" Suck?

Why did we spend all those years desperate to grow up only to now wish ourselves back to the way things were? When you're thirteen-years-old there is nothing worse than having your life ruled by your parents. You think that it would be fantastic to be twenty-three and living in your own place where your friends could come round whenever you fancied, or to be thirty-three and have a fantastic job earning so much money that you could buy whatever you wanted.

How to Have a Good Mini Break

Going away for quickie business trips or mini breaks can be a bit stressful. What does one pack? How much does one pack? Do you check your luggage or do you try to be hardcore and just bring hand luggage?Longer journeys are easier to prepare for, in my book. You can bring copious amounts of entertainment on board. You can bring a large suitcase without anyone judging you. And taking a long time to pack is smiled at, if not encouraged. (“You can never be too prepared!”)

Things To Do that Don't Include Watching Football

Are you tired of it yet? Tired of it being the only thing your boyfriend talks about. Tired of all your favourite bars having been taken over by people shouting at a screen. The World Cup is clearly the Eurovision for guys. It can be pretty entertaining, but enough is enough. Thankfully you don't have to sit through it all. With some clever planning you might actually be able to ignore it altogether.

Life's a Beach: Tips for Going Seaside

Going to the beach is the ultimate summer activity. There are few things as exciting than knowing you get to spend your entire day seaside, eating ice cream, listening to the ocean, and staring at scantily clad passersby. However, unless you come prepared, you’re not going to enjoy your days as much as you could! So, in effort to help you make the most of your day by the sea, here are some tips for enjoying a day at the beach!

Do Pregnant Women Really Lie about Smoking?

If I got pregnant, and skipped off to my first antenatal appointment, and was asked if I smoked, I’d say no. I’d then expect to be left alone to take folic acid and play Mozart to my stomach. I would not expect some doctor to whip out a breathalyser to check I’m not lying. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence has suggested exactly that. They want pregnant women to be given breath ...

O! Cheryl Tweedy, Why Change Your Name?

So, after finally divorcing Ashley Cole, Cheryl Cole, er, Tweedy is now going back to using her maiden name. Granted, Tweedy isn’t nearly as catching as Cole, but at least girlfriend isn’t using Ashley's name anymore. The Daily Mail point out that this sudden name change isn’t exactly a good time, ...

How to Avoid Cellulite-Friendly Foods

Cellulite, the scourge of the modern women. It is possibly the number one issue that women have especially as the days get hotter and the prospect of baring their legs looms nearer. The weekly trash mags love to hi-light it on celebrity bodies – making them ‘more real’. Don’t get me wrong, in this day and age where airbrushing pictures is so de rigeur that we have a distorted view of perfection, I would be lying if I said seeing cellulite on an otherwise ‘supposedly’ perfect body didn’...

Live to Create Workshops in London

Live to Create is the brainchild of Royal Academy fellow, Lucy Wills. I was invited down to the latest workshop held at the retro ‘Time for Tea’ in London’s Shoreditch.I wasn’t sure to expect to be honest, the venue whilst quaint was pretty dark and the buzz of Shoreditch didn’t quite match the stillness inside. It was the hottest day of the year, and as a sunshine junkie, I was wishing, to start off, that I was lolling in the park licking an icecream. Fortunately for the second half o...

BitchBuzz Says Relax! Tips on how to Unwind

The other night I joined my intrepid editor for the launch of Starbucks's new Discoveries drinks, who partnered with  Mills & Boon for the evening. The publishing giant apparently conducted a study that demonstrated that most women found it difficult to carve out time for themselves on a daily basis. I'm sure this comes as a surprise to few of us over-achieving, workaholic,...
